The proposals include investment of at least £1million to improve the public realm, including an enhanced Town Square in front of Hornsey Town Hall with guaranteed public access. The designs for the Town Hall Square were chosen by local people and were selected because they reflect the historic aspects of the original square. The new design includes planting, restoration of the old fountain, preservation of all existing trees and external seating areas for the cafes and restaurants. There will be the same level of grass as exists today and paved space for local events and festivals. We will maintain the space.
A new space named Town Hall Gardens has been created following community feedback that the site should be more permeable and allow access from the Town Hall to the Library. This new public space can be accessed directly from the ground floor of the Town Hall and leads to the rear of the Library building.
